Chocolate Truffles

Prep Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients:
6 ounces of semi-sweet
baking chocolate
2 tablespoons of margarine
1/4 cup of heavy whipping cream
1 tablespoon of shortening
1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
chopped nuts or candy decorations
for garnish

Cook Time: 50 minutes

Directions:
Melt the baking chocolate in a saucepan on low heat, stirring constantly. Remove from the heat. Stir in the margarine and whipping cream.
Refrigerate for 15 minutes. Stir until thick enough to hold a shape. Using a spoon, drop the mixture onto the cookie sheet and shape into balls.
If the mixture is too sticky then refrigerate until firm enough to hold shape.
Freeze for 30 minutes. Heat the chips and shortening on low heat, stirring until the mixture is melted.
Dip the truffles one at a time into the mixture. Place on an aluminum foil-covered cookie sheet.
Sprinkle the nuts and decorations onto the truffles. Refrigerate the truffles 10 minutes or until the coating is set.
Store in an airtight container.
Yield: 16 servings
