COMMON TERMS FOUND ON FOOD LABELS

Sugar Free
---means there is less than 0.5 gram of Sugar per serving.

No Added Sugar, Without Added Sugar, No Sugar Added
---this is not the same as "Sugar Free". This label means that no Sugar was added during processing...or when it was processed the Sugar content did not increase above the amount the ingredient already contained.

Reduced Sugar
---means there is at least 25% less Sugar per serving than the regular product.

Calorie Free
---means there are fewer than 5 calories per serving.

Low Calorie
---means there is 40 calories or less per serving.

Reduced Calorie, Fewer Calories
---means there are at least 25% fewer calories per serving than the regular item.

Fat Free, Nonfat
---means there is 0.5 gram of fat per serving.

Low Fat
---means there are 3 grams or less of fat per serving.

Reduced Fat, Less Fat
---means there is 25% less fat per serving than the regular item.
